Print Employment & Jobs Publications

By: Matt, October 8th, 2007

In researching the “industry” of employment and job search, I come across dozens of new websites each week. It’s a fairly tight-knit little world we employment bloggers live in, and it seems that everyone “knows” everyone else, at least to the extent that we’ve heard of each other or happened upon the blogs of most in this space. In a more recent search for employment “publications,” however, I came upon some print periodicals - you know, those things with pages, publication deadlines and - just like on the Web - words (no links, clicks or instant publishing, alas). It seems that we’re all so tied up in the online world that we sometimes forget that there still are print publications out there. Admittedly, I prefer reading the newspaper in the old-school manner, including paper and black ink stains on my hands, to reading it online, but I often engage in the latter method anyway. And I’ll never read a novel online - I already sit at my computer too much anyway.

Here are a couple of the print publications that I’ve come upon recently:

Contract Job Hunter -  in their words, “specializes in job openings for serious Contractors and Consultants in engineering, IT/IS, and technical disciplines.” Annual subscription is $25.

Equal Opportunity Publications - puts out a variety of print publications, including Minority Engineer, Woman Engineer, Careers & the Disabled, Hispanic Career World and may others.

Human Resource Executive -  geared towards - you guess it - HR Executives, from HR Managers to Vice Presidents.

CareerSource Magazine -  A general publication that puts out special issues about various industries from month to month.
