Alumwire Focus is on College Students and Recent Grads

Alumwire, a site dedicated to networking among college students and recent graduates, is taking the vertical approach to networking just one step further, a “vertical within a vertical,” if you will. Everyone knows about MySpace, Facebook and LinkedIn, of course, so the jump to a networking site for job seekers and employers isn’t a big one. Alumwire is “niching down” to yet another level though and it seems like quite a good idea to me. The niche Alumwire focuses on is particularly relevant as Generation Y comes of age and enters the workforce. I figured I’d make this post about Alumwire now, in the midst of a series of posts that are at least loosely related to the youngest generation. From Alumwire:

Alumwire is an interactive career network for college students and young alumni to find jobs, internships, and other career opportunities. We are the premier professional college network that provides alumni, students, and recruiters personal and professional opportunities. Our unique multimedia platform includes video handshakes (video introductions), allowing users to show more than just their paper resumes to employers and potential employees.

Yet another good resource for college students, I think this one will be around for a while, especially with partnerships with CareerBuilder and CollegeJournal already in place.
