Resume Killers: One More Time

There is a post today on Dumb Little Man, still one of my favorite blogs, about the age-old mistakes that are made on resumes that drive anyone who is forced to read those things absolutely crazy. 10 Ways to Get Your Resume Trashed doesn’t really add anything new to our established list of spelling & grammatical errors, gaps in employment, too much detail, etc.
But it does have a great image of an actual resume where the candidate uses the following line as a single item on the resume:
Have been referred to as a “Rain Maker.”
That’s just precious. Anyone who knows the hiring process knows that you save this type of heavy ammunition for the interview. Never play your “rain maker” card before you get face to face with a “decision maker.”
