Continue Your Education - Better Jobs Await
By: Mick, September 23rd, 2007
We’re often drawn into discussions about how to find a better job and the various processes that everyone likes to point to - social networking, niche job boards, using head hunters, referral programs, etc. And while each of those approaches can be effective, the best way to ensure that you are able to find and secure the best jobs is to increase your attractiveness to potential employers. The two best ways of making yourself professionally attractive are to increase your education and increase your experience. The experience comes automatically with every job that you hold. But the education requires a personal commitment, and that can make all the difference.
Build your educational plan and stick to it
If you have a degree in business management, perhaps you know that you want to be involved in technology. Build upon your business degree with tech certifications or advanced technical degrees that will allow you access to multiple job markets. People with complimentary degrees often have positions created specifically for them within companies.
Look for jobs that pay for your education
Many employers offer partial or full tuition reimbursement for employees who continue their education while working for the company. Nothing is better than having your company pay you for your time as well as for your tuition.
Take advantage of online degree programs
Even if you have to pay for your educational endeavors entirely out of your own pocket, there are online programs that are affordable for most budgets. Most university systems also offer online programs to give working professionals the flexibility to pursue advanced degrees without committing to hours of classroom time every week.
