What About Prayer in the Workplace?

By: Mick, April 27th, 2007

We’ve all heard the ongoing debates about prayer in the schools. But there is a podcast from Businessweek that I found while over at Inside Work that deals specifically with religion in the workplace. The interview is with Marko Mrkonich from Littler Mendelson in Minneapolis. It is about 17 minutes long and provides some excellent insight into the issues that employers and employees face when confronted with faith issues and religious practices in the workplace.

What is protected? What is legal? What are the rights of non-practicing employees in the workplace?

Having listened to this piece, I can tell you that if you have any interest in introducing faith-based practices in your office or if you have employees who are currently practicing their faith in the workplace, you should really take the time to listen to this. If you are an employee working in such an office, you should know your rights and this is a good introduction to that end.
