Don’t use mindSCOPE Staffing & Recruiting Software
By: Matt, April 1st, 2007
Just a quick note to those in the market for either a hosted job candidate management application or one that you can install on your own servers. The application itself is so-so, but more troubling, in my opinion, is that lack of access you truly have if you go with the hosted option. Tech support is weak (at best) and getting someone to contact you can, at times, be difficult. My final beef, and this in keeping with full disclosure, is that we actually wanted to go back after our license expired to get contact information. I was told, when we still had access to the data, that we couldn’t extract contact information because of the “unique way that mindSCOPE software indexes information.” Now that we want to go back in and get these data, we’re told that we can, BUT (Mick’s comments in parentheses - hey, you’re seeing our “behind-the-scenes” communication here!):
I completely understand your predicament. However, the two items re-activation, and staying on support and having access to your database go hand-in-hand. I was able with great pains to eliminate the re-activation fee in order to be able to get you access. (waived re-activation fee was an additional $500)
Management will not authorize the re-activation of a database in order to extract info and then have that same database archived again. It’s just impossible. It’s too much work. (Too much work - that’s funny).
The only other option I can think of is providing you a copy of your whole database ($250). However I’m not sure useful that would be, as the format is in SQL and you would require a data conversion into another product from another vendor. The formats are .mdf and .ldf which completely unusable to you without a conversion.
Sorry to be the bearer of such bad news considering you only require some limited information. Unfortunately, my hands are tied.
Here’s my tech’s response to this:
Matt that is bs. it will take them 30 seconds to backup the database and send it to you. Do you have a username and password. I bet I can get the data - lets talk tomorrow.
I guess that pretty much sums it up. Thanks mindSCOPE….appreciate the help.
