Jobster Goes Free

I was on Jobster yesterday and noticed “free job postings” and, sure enough, read today on Techcrunch what exactly is going on over there. The move is being hailed (by Techcrunch at least) as a move to target Monster.com, the job board behemoth on the block. With $50 Million in funding and a CEO who seems entirely obsessed with both his business and Monster.com’s fallibility, the story isn’t exactly David vs. Goliath - perhaps “early adult, been around the block a few times David” vs. Goliath will do.

My first thought when I read this was “hey, we’re going to do that” (the free job board thing). I guess Jobster got the jump there, but then again we don’t aspire to knock off Monster…just take a little bit of their revenue (via the advertising model, of course).
