Opening a New Office? Buy Recycled Office Furniture

By: Mick, January 19th, 2007

Lime.com has a great post today about Recycling Office Furniture. It’s a short video piece, but it’s very interesting. A UK company, Green-Works, accepts discarded office furniture from large employers and recycles, re-furbishes, and re-purposes it for re-sale to smaller employers at a fraction of the original cost. Every phase of the process is financially prudent and environmentally friendly.
I did not see a U.S.-based office or subsidiary of Green-Works, but I have to imagine that they would have information about where you could find similar services in the states. Having purchased new office furniture and begrudgingly discarded used office furniture, I know that there is a huge need for this type of service everywhere in the corporate world.

If you are opening a new office or have an existing office in need of more or better furniture on a budget, it would be worth your time to explore recycled furniture.

My company, Premier Office Solutions, has been recyclling office furniture for the last 10 years. During that time we have diverted close to 50 milliion pounds of “waste” from our landfills. We are always looking for unwanted cubicles to pair with a new home.

Premier Office Solutions looks like an interesting company and a great resource for businesses in the market to buy or sell used (or new) office furniture. I wish you continued success and we’ll definitely keep you in mind as any future office furniture needs arise.

These gases contribute to indoor air pollution and can cause headaches and other personal discomfort.
