Jobs Plentiful for College Grads - Put Down that Beer and Get a Job

A recent article on Yahoo! notes that companies are expecting to hire 17.4% more new college graduates in 2006 and 2007 than they did during 2005 and 2006. New grads will have other reasons to celebrate as well, with pay expected to grow by 4.6% and signing bonuses averaging $3,568. While there can often be a disconnect between these studies and the real world that recent college grads experience, this is at least good news for those who have been on top of life after beer pong. It’s still necessary to put forth a great deal of effort during a job search, to network as much as possible, and to begin getting serious about one’s career well before graduation. Combine that with good grades and good interviewing and communication skills, however, and the job market is a thing of beauty for the newest entrants to the real world.
